How BandFiles works

Everything you need to know, whether you're in the band or in the crowd.

Important

Add the site to your phone

  • iPhone (use Safari): Tap the Share button (box with an up arrow) → tap Add to Home Screen → tap Add.
  • Android (use Chrome): Tap the ⋮ menu (top right) → tap Add to Home Screen → tap Add.

Download a fan videos for just the audio, video or both.

For bands

  1. Set up a free account – no subscriptions
  2. Invite your bandmates to join your account – preview videos only.
  3. At your show announce the website to the crowd, add the QR code to promo material, or share your account link.
  4. After the show, preview all the videos for free
  5. All videos are timestamped and grouped by the actual time the fan recorded the video. This allows you to watch the same song from different angles for multicam shots.
  6. Check the videos you want, then click download
  7. Purchase credits – Each video is $2. 1 credit per download. Credits can also be purchased from your account Settings tab.
  8. All videos from the fans are auto-deleted after 72 hours, so download them while you can.
  9. Report fan videos for misuse of the platform
  10. Receive email notifications for newly available videos

For fans

  1. Click "Upload videos to the band"
  2. Verify your phone number with the six-digit code we send, check the consent box, and you'll be verified for 30 days
  3. Search for the band you're looking for in the search box
  4. Click "upload videos"
  5. Done
  6. You'll receive a text letting you know if the band downloaded any of your videos to say thank you.

Pro Tips

Announce it from the stage

So many people film your set, but you never get the videos. Now you can. Tell the crowd: “Got videos? You can upload them directly to us, free and with no account, at BandFiles.com.” The more people who hear it, the more footage you get.

Call your shot

Pick one big moment (the first minute of your closer, the encore) and tell the crowd: “Film this one and send it to us.” Instead of random snippets, you'll get the exact moment you want, shot from every corner of the room.

Print your QR code

Download your QR code from the dashboard and put it on the merch table, set lists, or a stage banner. Fans scan and send in seconds, no typing required.

FAQs

Is there a monthly subscription?

No subscription. Accounts are 100% free for both bands and fans. Only pay $2 for the videos you want to keep.

Do fans have to create an account?

No. Fans just verify their phone number with a texted code. No account, no app, no password.

What's the shortest video I'll get?

20 seconds. Anything shorter is blocked, so you're never stuck sorting through unusable 3-second clips.

What's the longest a video can be?

5 minutes per video. Fans can send up to 2 GB at a time, so you'll often get a batch from one show all at once.

Does my QR code link straight to my page?

Yes. Your QR code and link open your band's upload page directly, and it's built to be downloaded and printed. Grab it from your dashboard.
